Shift

Shift ("the app", "we") is a math puzzle game developed by Inefficient Code. This policy describes what data is collected and how it is used.

1. Data We Collect

The app collects the minimum data required to operate online features:

Device ID — a random UUID generated on first launch, stored on-device. Used to identify your account with PlayFab (leaderboards, matchmaking).
Display name — a randomly generated math-themed username that you can shuffle in Settings. Stored locally and on PlayFab for leaderboard display.
Game scores — your Daily Challenge scores are submitted to a global leaderboard hosted by Microsoft PlayFab.
Analytics events — anonymous usage events (app open, game mode started/completed, sound toggle, username shuffle) sent to Google Firebase Analytics. No personally identifiable information is included.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

Name, email address, or any contact information
Location data
Payment or billing information
Photos, camera, or microphone
Contacts or social graph

3. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

4. Local Storage

The app stores your preferences (sound on/off, notification preference, display name, game history) locally on your device using localStorage / SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device except as described above.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable Daily Reminder notifications, the app schedules a local notification at midnight. No data is transmitted to a server for this feature — the notification is scheduled entirely on-device.

6. Children

The app does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. It contains no advertising, in-app purchases (other than an optional voluntary tip via Ko-fi), or social features beyond a pseudonymous leaderboard.

7. Data Deletion

To delete your local data, uninstall the app. To request deletion of your PlayFab account data (leaderboard scores), contact us at the address below.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
